POD / BLIND DRIVE

The actor plays the scene. The stunt driver takes the wheel.

An external POD driving position or a blind-drive installation inside the vehicle: the scene and camera position determine the configuration. Explore the roof-mounted driving positions and the interior installations.

The people behind the picture vehicles.

We find, prepare and modify vehicles for film productions. From the workshop to the set, Budapest Picture Vehicles works with production designers, art departments and stunt teams to get each vehicle ready for its scene.

The script sets the task: a character’s car, background traffic, a moving set or an action vehicle. We adapt the vehicle to the design and prepare it for the work it needs to do on set.

What we bring to the production

From the search to the shot.

We source, prepare and modify vehicles for filming. Our work covers POD and blind-drive systems, rigging, wrapping, bespoke builds, transport and support on set.

01For the production

Source & prepare

We find the vehicle the scene needs, then prepare its appearance and mechanics for filming.

02For the production

Build & rig

Turn the selected vehicle into the vehicle the shot requires: from stunt preparation and relocated driving positions to wrapping, rigging and bespoke set builds.

Inside the workshop

Where picture vehicles take shape.

The vehicle work starts in our workshop and offices, supported by tool vans. Here we organise sourcing, carry out builds and prepare vehicles before they head to the studio or location.

Workshop examples include an Ikarus bus conversion, a modified formula race car and five PistenBully conversions. Work on the non-flying Airbus AS355 helicopter mock-up included 3D printing. Each build began with the production design.

Stories from the workshop

Budapest London

Toyota Land Cruiser

From our yard to London.

A customer spotted its potential in our yard.

The Land Cruiser was looking rather worse for wear. We prepared it to make the long journey safely. With export plates fitted, the customer drove it all the way to London.

It was a pleasure to work on this car and see it head off towards London after the preparation.
